This is the most recommended tour of northern Pakistan for those who can afford long vacation. The northern part of Pakistan is where three major mountain ranges, the Karakoram, the Himalayas, and the Hindu Kush, meet and offer spectacular mountain scenery. This route starts with the world's 9th highest peak Nanga Parbat (8,126m) on the Skardu side. "The sky garden"- Deosai Plateau, and the Sarfranga Cold Desert, then moves to Hunza & Upper Hunza, the foot of the Hindu Kush range over Shandur Pass. You will witness the highest peak of the Hindu Kush - Tirich Mir (7,708m) and visit the beautiful Kalasha valley, home of the Kalash people.

Itinerary

Travel from Islamabad to Chilas over the Kaghan valley and Babusar Pass (4,170m).

From Chilas, drive through the Astore Valley to the Deosai Plateau. On the drive up to the Deosai Plateau, you will see Nanga Parbat (8,126m).

Cross the Deosai Plateau, which is in full bloom with alpine flora in July, to Skardu.

Visits the local markets of Skardu, villages of the Shigar Valley, and the Sarfranga Cold Desert.

Day trip to Khaplu valley from Skardu.

We continue along the Indus River to Karimabad, the heart of Hunza.

Full day visit to the Hunza Valley (Baltit Fort, Altit Village, Nagar Valley, Duiker Hill, etc.)

Passing through Attabad Lake to Passu in the Upper Hunza. Hiking with a view of the Passu Glacier.

From Passu, we will make a round trip to Khunjerab Pass (4,700m), the border with China. Then visit a Wakhi people village.

Travel to Gupis in the Ghizer Valley.

From Gupis, cross the Shandur Pass to Ayun. Tirich Mir (7,708m), the highest peak in the Hindu Kush, appears.

From Ayun, we will visit the valleys where the Kalash people live (Bomboret and Rambur Valley).

Return to Islamabad.

Itinerary
*This 13-day itinerary is a compact tour of the northern part of the country. You can also extend your stay in each region at a more leisurely pace.
*The crossing of the Deosai Plateau and the Shandur Pass are seasonal, from mid-June to early October, as it depends on snowfall.
*The highest overnight altitude is 4,200 meters on the Deosai Plateau, and those who are not comfortable with heights are advised to stay in Skardu. Also, the highest altitude reached on this route is 4,700m at Khunjerab Pass.
*It is possible to take a domestic flight to Skardu on day01.
